What we list
EU Vetted is a directory of EU and privacy-first SaaS alternatives to US software. We list commercial SaaS with a hosted offering — including freemium and paid — when at least one of the following is true:
- the company is EU-incorporated, or headquartered in a strong-privacy jurisdiction (CH, NO, IS);
- the service is EU-hosted with a clear sub-processor chain and a customer-facing DPA;
- the product is the best open-source self-hosted answer in a category where no SaaS alternative currently meets the bar.
We do not list physical products, generic startup directories, US-incorporated services without an EU shielding structure, or self-hosted-only software that has an obvious SaaS competitor we already cover. If you are unsure whether your product fits, send it anyway — we will tell you within the review window.
How to request a listing
Send an email to [email protected] from an address on the product's own domain, with:
- the product name and the homepage URL;
- the category you think you belong in (one of the categories already on the directory, or a short note if you think a new category is warranted);
- links to the public DPA, the sub-processors document, the hosting region declaration, and the imprint / company registration page — these are what we verify against;
- one or two US products you consider yourself an alternative to, so we can map you into the
/alternatives/{tool}comparison pages; - optional: a one-paragraph note on what you would like a reader to know before they click through.
What happens next
- Within 3 business days: we acknowledge receipt and confirm whether the product is in scope. Out-of-scope submissions get a one-line explanation and a suggestion of where they might fit better.
- Within 14 days: in-scope listings are researched against the same compliance rubric used for every other entry (How we score), drafted in EN / DE / FR, and either published or returned with a short list of questions if we cannot verify a required claim.
- After publication: every listing carries a last verified date. We re-verify quarterly. If something on your end changes (hosting region, ownership, DPA URL, sub-processors), email us and we will update before the next quarterly cycle.
What a listing costs
Nothing. A listing on EU Vetted is editorial and free. We do not accept payment in exchange for being listed, for a higher compliance score, for a top-pick badge, or for inclusion on an /alternatives/{tool} comparison page. See the Editorial guidelines for the full conflict-of-interest policy.
We do operate clearly-labelled paid surfaces — sponsored placements and affiliate links where a programme exists — but these are separate from the editorial layer and are always disclosed on the surface where they appear. Applying for a listing has no effect on what those surfaces show.
If you disagree with how you are listed
If your product is already on the directory and you disagree with the compliance score, the CLOUD Act exposure tier, the ownership signal, or any other editorial classification, you have a right of reply on the same page. See Editorial guidelines → Right of reply. To request removal entirely, see Request removal — we honour removals within 14 days, unconditionally.
